My horoscope for yesterday was very interesting:
Sagittarius
"Always the optimist, you look to a day that's much like the present, except you have more of what you want and less of what you don't. By eliminating three of your "don't wants," you're closer to heaven."
I've been so busy focusing on all the things I want, it didn't occur to me that I might need to rid myself of some negative things. Let's see, what don't I want...
1. I don't want to be around people who bring me down, energy-suckers, if you will. I have a couple "friends" who are very negative and seem to exude bad energy. I've discovered that when I spend time with them, I walk away feeling pessimistic. This just isn't going to work for me anymore. I have made deliberate decisions regarding my life, and I want to be surrounded by positive energy that will help me achieve my goals.
2. I don't want to settle, in any aspect of my life. Since I started looking for a new job, more than one person has told me to quit being so unrealistic and be glad I have a job. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have a job. However, there is a better job out there for me. Why should I settle for a job where I'm not very happy when I know that's not what's meant for me? I have to go out and make this new job happen, nobody is going to call and offer me my dream job unless I'm out there looking for it. I'm not going to stop until I find it!
3. I don't want to do what society says people are "supposed" to do, unless it's what I want to do. I want to enjoy life, on my own terms! More on this later...
I don't think it's wrong to want to live my life my way. I won't do anything that would interfere with my family, but yes, I want it all! I only have once chance at this life, and I want to make the best of it.

I understand perfectly! Don't wait to be my age to start doing what you want. When I read what you and Annika write about, I think "why didn't I think like that when I was their age?" But, I suppose it's better late than ever.
So, follow your heart and stay positive. There is a better job out there if you believe it.
I always repeat to myself "I'm not where I want to be yet, but thank God I'm not where I used to be".
There is a book titled "how full is your bucket?" I think that's the correct title. Something about people always taking from your bucket, but never reciprocating to refill it.
I think about that when I'm sorrounded by negative people that don't contribute to filling up my bucket.
I'm sorry about my rambling, but I do hope I filled your bucket with positive energy!
Hi Carole! You aren't rambling at all!
As a matter of fact, Annika is a great inspiration to me. I've learned so much from reading her blog.
I love your saying, "I'm not where I want to be yet, but thank God I'm not where I used to be". Do you mind if I "borrow" it for myself? ;-)
I'll definitely look up that book, it sounds like something I need to read. And yes, you have filled my bucket with positive energy - thanks!
I love what Carole D. has written here--especially about the bucket :)
Don't apologize for wanting to be the best you can be and wanting to be happy--sure all the miserable people will try to bring you down (misery loves company isn't just a phrase!), but at the end of the day, there's just you, and you have to be happy with what you're doing and what you've done.
Brava :)
Life is way too short to spend it with negative people. They zap all your energy. I realized I was turning into a bitter, angry person the more time I spent with certain friends. I had to cut back on socializing with them.
I had a big birthday a couple years ago. I'm not waiting "to live my life" any longer.
You are a smart person so cleary you are not going to make rash decisions. If some people don't understand, that is okay, it's your life, not theirs.
Hi Kathy,
Go right ahead and use it. I think the first time I heard it, it was on the Oprah show.
This is a wonderful support group.
For instance, I fill my bucket with the positive energy and calming effect coming from Sognatrice all the way from Calabria.
You're all a very smart group of women.
Kathy,
Reach for the stars... Always, for the only way is up. Your life is for you to live. People will always have opinions and thats all they are opinions. We are all unique and so are our wants and needs. Know in the core of you that you are worthy of the best! Gather your femine power and spirit and direct it to where it is light and bright.
Sognatrice - yep, misery sure does love company, especially when it comes to a few people at my work! I'm no longer telling them details of my life!
NYC - that's what I've been doing, waiting to live my life. I've finally realized that I need to live it NOW!
Carole - I think all these lovely ladies (you included!) help to fill up my bucket!
Cleo - I've grabbed my feminine power and I am on my way up!
